HUNGERBALL® started with a commitment to inclusivity and breaking down barriers. Supporting refugees starting over in New Zealand has always been a core game principle, but COVID meant our borders closed and refugees stopped arriving.
The arena dedicated to Te Āhuru Mōwai o Aotearoa – Māngere Refugee Resettlement Centre was used at schools and community events, but when the borders re-opened this year, it was time for HUNGERBALL® to return to its home.
In an incredible gesture, HUNGERBALLERS wrote messages of support on the arena’s walls to let our new New Zealanders know they are welcome here—a great demonstration of the HUNGERBALL® philosophy.
