Play Week Aotearoa 2024 celebrates the value play brings to tamariki, whānau and communities across Aotearoa. Play gives us freedom and chances to take risks. It’s how our tamariki build a lifelong love of being active, making sense of the world around them, getting creative, building friendships, and learning skills.
We joyfully kicked off the celebrations with a HUNGERBALL® arena in the heart of Auckland’s city centre at The Te Komititanga Square, Britomart, with five hours of uninterrupted mini-football and other fun ball games for children of all ages (and many parents, too).
A special thanks also to Toby Falconer at The Open Fort and Jacquelyn Collins at Auckland Council for hosting us alongside other amazing play activities such as Conscious Kids NZ, and Junky Monkeys from the Auckland Play Collective Initiative.
This was the beginning of what is undoubtedly destined to become a beautiful tradition; check out the link below for many other activities to be offered for the rest of the week, and make sure to invite your whānau to join in, including some more fun, fast and fierce Hungerball on the last day at Aotea Square to finish off with a bang!
