Ginger Sport began humbly in 2009 with a bag of soccer balls, a handful of happy, smiling kids, and a coach with a passion for his beloved game of English ‘football’. That coach—Ben Hutchinson—is still the striker behind Ginger Sport.

With a great team of playmakers who coach thousands of kids at hundreds of venues across South East Queensland. It’s not all about bending it like Beckham at Ginger Sport all about providing a fun, inclusive, and play-based learning environment. The team see this as laying the foundation for a happy and healthy life for our precious kids.

After a series of successful events where New Zealand’s newest refugees enjoyed the magic of HUNGERBALL® having fun together regardless of any differences in age, culture, language, skill level or gender differences, we have decided to donate a HUNGERBALL® arena to be used on a permanent basis at the centre under the care of Refugees as Survivors New Zealand.

After being voted in the 3 most favourite summer activities by thousands of kids attending Muskoka Woods City Camp, the HUNGERBALL® arena has moved indoors for the winter season also being a favourite with the school groups.

The first HUNGERBALL® arena in the United States is located at Major League franchise Seattle Sounders FC.

Following a successful trial over the 2019 summer when HUNGERBALL® was used extensively for the Seattle Sounders FC soccer camps & programmes and at the club’s annual Alliance Member event, the franchise now has a full-time arena in their team colours!

A HUNGERBALL® arena will be permanently based at Manukau United FC to be used for engaging kids of all ages and abilities from South Auckland communities and schools with support from Club Manager Hone Fowler & Team Captain Tino Contratti.

Manukau United Football Club is a partnership club representing South Auckland communities in the Lotto NRFL Premier League and provides grassroots community football engagement and elite football pathways for juniors, youth and senior players. As one of Aotearoa’s most ethnically diverse sports clubs Manukau United is widely regarded a flagship club in promoting equity and social cohesion through sport.

A HUNGERBALL® arena will be permanently based at New Windsor Community HUB to be used for engaging kids of all ages and abilities from Waitakere communities and New Windsor School with support from Community Waitakere.

The New Windsor Community HUB is a focal point for growing positive community and connections in New Windsor. It’s guided by a Steering Group of community members who, thanks to the generosity of New Windsor Primary School, operate a Community Hub room, in what used to be a dental clinic, by the School Pool. The Whau Local Board funds Shalema, from Community Waitakere, to work part-time in New Windsor to support the HUB and grow the community in New Windsor.

HUNGERBALL® at New Windsor Community HUB has been made possible due to Tu Manawa funding from Sport Waitakere.

Founded in 1888 Roslyn Wakari is one of New Zealand’s oldest football clubs. We are also one of the South Island’s largest football clubs, enjoying a membership of over 700 players; there is a Roslyn Wakari team, sometimes two, competing in every grade of Football South’s Dunedin competitions.
