Ginger Sport began humbly in 2009 with a bag of soccer balls, a handful of happy, smiling kids, and a coach with a passion for his beloved game of English ‘football’. That coach—Ben Hutchinson—is still the striker behind Ginger Sport.

With a great team of playmakers who coach thousands of kids at hundreds of venues across South East Queensland. It’s not all about bending it like Beckham at Ginger Sport all about providing a fun, inclusive, and play-based learning environment. The team see this as laying the foundation for a happy and healthy life for our precious kids.

Little Victors is a sports organisation, specialising in designing programs catered for the ages of 5-12. These activities aim to encourage kids to participate in a wide range of sports and give children the opportunity to partake in physical activity.

Little Victor’s vision is; “to see the kids within our community getting involved and having fun with sports of all different kinds. Watching them enjoy sports-based activities with friends whilst gaining valuable skills is something we strive to achieve”.

After a successful three months trial where HUNGERBALL® was used on a daily basis during lunch times and school-community events, the Whitby High School has become the first educational provider in the UK to adopt HUNGERBALL® as a health and wellbeing tool around which the “Hunger4Health” project was born.

Under the inspiring guidance of the school Head Teacher, Mr Bryn Heeley, the “Hunger4Health” project will make use of the HUNGERBALL® concept to encourage physical activity, team work and leadership skills, and to improve physical and mental well being of the students of Whitby High School. The project will have a dual purpose of promoting informal exercise of the school population plus focused work with groups of vulnerable learners.

After a series of successful events where New Zealand’s newest refugees enjoyed the magic of HUNGERBALL® having fun together regardless of any differences in age, culture, language, skill level or gender differences, we have decided to donate a HUNGERBALL® arena to be used on a permanent basis at the centre under the care of Refugees as Survivors New Zealand.

The first HUNGERBALL® arena in the United States is located at Major League franchise Seattle Sounders FC.

Following a successful trial over the 2019 summer when HUNGERBALL® was used extensively for the Seattle Sounders FC soccer camps & programmes and at the club’s annual Alliance Member event, the franchise now has a full-time arena in their team colours!

A HUNGERBALL® arena will be permanently based at Manukau United FC to be used for engaging kids of all ages and abilities from South Auckland communities and schools with support from Club Manager Hone Fowler & Team Captain Tino Contratti.

Manukau United Football Club is a partnership club representing South Auckland communities in the Lotto NRFL Premier League and provides grassroots community football engagement and elite football pathways for juniors, youth and senior players. As one of Aotearoa’s most ethnically diverse sports clubs Manukau United is widely regarded a flagship club in promoting equity and social cohesion through sport.

A HUNGERBALL® arena will be permanently based at New Windsor Community HUB to be used for engaging kids of all ages and abilities from Waitakere communities and New Windsor School with support from Community Waitakere.

The New Windsor Community HUB is a focal point for growing positive community and connections in New Windsor. It’s guided by a Steering Group of community members who, thanks to the generosity of New Windsor Primary School, operate a Community Hub room, in what used to be a dental clinic, by the School Pool. The Whau Local Board funds Shalema, from Community Waitakere, to work part-time in New Windsor to support the HUB and grow the community in New Windsor.

HUNGERBALL® at New Windsor Community HUB has been made possible due to Tu Manawa funding from Sport Waitakere.

From the founders of Ginger Sport, Quest Football Academy is a football academy for Queensland kids who want more than just football skills. With a grass-roots football culture Quest Football Academy is a place where kids feel inspired, supported, and proud to belong.

With our unique ability to bond a team from the ground up, Quest kids see first hand what they are capable of, when they forge positive relationships on and off the field.

Quest kids will always be inspired to do their best for themselves, for their team, and ultimately for the greater good.

Oaklands is a child-centred outstanding school, where pupils learn in a nurturing and happy environment. It is a special school for pupils from 11 to 17 years of age with moderate learning difficulties. The caring environment provided by the excellent and supportive staff enables pupils to achieve their potential and experience many enriching and positive experiences. The ‘can do’ attitude and constant strive to improve ensures that Oaklands pupils are given the opportunity to succeed to the best of their ability.

HUNGERBALL® started with a commitment to inclusivity and breaking down barriers. We couldn’t be prouder to partner with Oaklands School for this permanent HUNGERBALL® arena and the opportunities it will bring to so many lives.

Sport Hawke’s Bay exists to enhance the health and wellbeing of Hawke’s Bay by influencing, enabling and supporting our communities to be more physically active.

To achieve this, they focus on:

• Young People – tamariki (ages 5-11) and rangatahi (ages 12-18)
• Less Active Communities – geographic or social communities where there are barriers to engaging in physical activity

Established in 1989, Sport Hawke’s Bay makes up a network of regional sports trusts throughout the country. They are seen as being an independent voice of play, active recreation and sport while also using physical activity to encourage people to live a more active and healthier lifestyle. The Sport Hawke’s Bay head office is based at Pettigrew Green Arena in Taradale, with offices also in Waipukurau and Wairoa.

Sport Hawke’s Bay is governed by a Board of Trustees with programmes and services managed by Sport Hawke’s Bay available for all communities in the Hawke’s Bay region.
