HUNGERBALL® is now available in Canada, with our Calgary, Alberta team operated by Luis Shaamir Haneef.
My name is Shaamir Haneef, and I’m the owner/operator of the Hungerball Calgary Foundation here in Calgary, Alberta. I’m proud to be bringing Hungerball to Canada for the very first time and am excited to introduce this fast-paced, inclusive sport to communities across Calgary and beyond. Our goal is simple: to make play accessible, exciting, and welcoming for people of all ages and abilities.
Having grown up between Abu Dhabi and Calgary, sports have always been a huge part of my life. I played volleyball, basketball, and soccer recreationally and developed a strong appreciation for how sport brings people together. Now working as a teacher—and previously as a high school soccer coach—I’ve seen firsthand how powerful play can be, especially for students and emerging communities.
I first discovered Hungerball through social media and was immediately drawn to its unique blend of fun, competition, and total inclusivity. With soccer rapidly growing in Calgary and sport playing such a central role in youth development, Hungerball felt like a perfect fit for the local community. Outside of work, I love staying active through travel, hiking, and training at the gym. What excites me most about Hungerball is its ability to create joy, connection, and opportunity—giving everyone a chance to jump in, compete, and feel like they belong.
This new Canada location in Calgary, Alberta, is an exciting growth moment for the HUNGERBALL® team. Welcome aboard, Shaamir and the Calgary HUNGERBALL® team! We can’t wait to see the ethos and excitement of HUNGERBALL® go to new levels in Canada!
